If you are considering dental implants, you will probably have many questions about the treatment and benefits they may offer you. Our expert team at Whitehall House Dental Practice complete countless dental implants every year and have a wealth of experience in this area. Here are some answers to common questions.

Q: Why choose dental implants?

A: Dental implants are the superior choice to replace missing teeth, as they become part of you. The implant is a small titanium screw that replaces your tooth root. Dental Implants are designed to look, feel, and function like a normal tooth. So if you are missing one or more teeth, they can replace your teeth and will look and feel completely natural.

Q: What are the benefits of dental implants?

A: There are many advantages to having dental implants. They look like natural teeth and will provide renewed strength and function to support your facial structure. Dental implants are long-lasting, cost-effective, and they do not limit what you can eat or drink. Having implants will let you talk, converse and smile with confidence.

Q: What are the success rates of a dental implant?

A: The success rate of a dental implant is over 95 per cent. The key to getting the best success rate is to find a qualified and experienced implantologist. The team at Whitehall Dental Practice are passionate about providing an expert service. Dentist Jonathan Gollings, who leads our team of dentists, has a post-graduate Diploma in Implant Dentistry from the Eastman Dental Institute.

Q: What other options are there if a dental implant is not the right treatment for you?

A: Although implants are the best option for replacing missing teeth, not everyone is a suitable candidate for them. Other methods to restore missing teeth are bridges, dentures, or leaving the gap. One of our dentists will explain the options to you.

Q: How long does dental implant treatment take from start to finish?

A: Each case is unique. However, as an estimate, you can expect, from surgery to the implant crown being placed, to be about three months.

Q: What is the price range for a single tooth dental implant?

A: Prices start from £2450.00 for a single tooth implant.

Q: What is needed to be a suitable candidate for a dental implant?

A: For a dental implant to succeed, you must have excellent oral hygiene. The quality and density of the bone is also a factor, but if you do not have enough bone, we can use a bone graft to help support the implant.

Q: What is the process?

A: The first phase is placing the implant – this is a titanium screw which is placed in the bone. If you need more bone, then it is at this stage that the bone graft is placed. The site is then sutured, we will see you again in two weeks to check on healing and remove the suture. Approximately six weeks from the removal of sutures (if the healing is going well), we can see you again to take impressions to send to the dental technician, who will make the implant screw-retained crown. The final appointment will be three weeks from the impression appointment, and this is to fit the crown. Your implant will be checked during your routine dental examinations.
